Snow Boots....CHECK!

Last Sunday we woke up and ran around like headless chickens for an hour trying to get ready for a last minute trip to Laguna Mountain! We purchased some boots for the kids (thanks, Walmart!) and some snow chains for our tires and off we went to Laguna Mountain. After about an hours ride we arrived in this wintery wonderland which honestly couldn't have been more beautiful.

Not our snowman....but Rob did make one. It's down a bit further.

Rob decided that it was time for Ashlyn to have a run by herself. After taking this picture Ashlyn picked up speed and was zooming her way right towards the cars and the street. I got my super woman skills on and ran in the snow (which was up to our knees) and did a running jump onto her sled (while holding my new camera up out of the snow....EEK!) I'm not sure how many more sled rides she'll be doing by herself and I'm pretty sure this is the last time I'll be bringing my new camera in the snow.

We had to make some changes to this Frosty...two pennies for eyes and our apple core for his nose and poor Frosty didn't have a mouth because everyone's feet were numb.

Thank you, LORD for your amazing works of art!

Valentines Day Cookies ala Chef Jaedyn

Thank you, Nana for sending Jaedyn the heart shaped cookie cutters. We put them to use the next day and Jaedyn made some nice sugary cookies!

A day on the water

We took a ride on what was possibly the lamest and most over priced whale watch I have ever been on. Let me just say that getting to this whale watch was pretty much a nightmare. None of us knew that there was an air show at the same time as our whale watch which resulted in wicked traffic, but even worse there was absolutely nowhere (and I mean nowhere) to park once we got there. It was definitely one of the most top 3 stressful moments of my life trying to find a parking spot as the departure time of our boat was creeping closer and closer. Not fun. Not fun at all. Anyway by some miracle we all made the boat and had a fun day. It was a gorgeous day, summer temps., crystal clear, and the airshow was literally right over our heads. Super fun.

A little girl on the boat let Jaedyn look through her binoculars. So sweet.

Can I get me one of these? Hilarious.

One word. Lame. (we were super far away...I cropped the photo so you could actually see something)

Love this.

Not sure what we were looking at but Ashlyn looks like she's ready to fly out of her socks and Jaedyn looks like he's looking at the creature from the black lagoon.

You had to be there for this, but my mom's glasses mysteriously flew off of her face and landed pretty far behind us. For some reason this turned us into a state of hysteria.

Downtown San Diego at sunset. Beautiful.

It's a good thing I like animals.

So Jaedyn has been on a "bring home an animal" kick lately. On the weekends he has the option of caring for the classroom pets at his school. I have found it quite fun actually. The first week we had Coconut and Kiwi with us, two turtles...no problemo. Cutest little things ever (aside from the giant poop that one of them delivered on Jaedyn's rug) and super easy to feed. Mixed greens. My kind of pets. Next we had 1, 2 and 3...frogs. Really pretty and mellow. We ventured out to the pet store this time to buy 36 live crickets to feed them. A little bit trickier than mixed greens, but still no problemo. This past weekend we had a sleep over party with Tigger, a boa. I actually don't mind snakes at all so this was also no problemo. However I kindly turned down the option of feeding Tigger when she explained the process. "take the small mouse out of the freezer and place it in a small dish of water. Defrost the mouse and then place it in the glass tank". Big problemo. I'll pass on the mouse cookage in my microwave.

Soccer Mania

Jaedyn, Ashlyn, my Dad and I spent some time running around like maniacs with the soccer ball this past week. I'm still not sure if Jaedyn and Ashlyn enjoyed the running part the best or blowing my Dad's whistles as loudly as they could. Not only am am I so grateful to have such an amazing father, but I am so blessed to have such a get down on the ground and roll around with my kids kind of father. Thanks, Dad. You rock!
