Beach Day

We went to the beach this past weekend...one of our favorite family activities. Ashlyn had already been there many times, but now that she is sitting up she finally got to experience that lovely warm, silky sand feeling on her teeny fingers and toes. I'm not sure that she would agree on the lovely part...I managed to capture her expression as she touched it for the first time and it looks more like she's saying "what is this stuff?". She also decided that it would be very fun to fall face first into the sand. Amazingly she didn't fuss even a bit, I just picked her up and she went on her merry way investigating it further.

A Laughing Matter

What's better than the sound of a baby laughing? One of my favorite things as a stay at home mom is listening to my children laugh. Jaedyn is constantly singing and dancing in front of Ashlyn which makes her smile and giggle. She adores him which I hope will continue forever!!
Yesterday as I was driving home from the grocery store with the kids Jaedyn's blue balloon that he got for being a "good helper" was dancing around in the back seat. I had the windows down just enough to make that balloon zoom across the ceiling of the car back and forth at about 200 miles per hour. I think it was possibly one of the funniest things ever. Ashlyn was hysterically laughing at the balloon I think, but probably also at Jaedyn who was totally cracking up at this balloon which suddenly had a life of its own. Definitely one of my favorite memories.
Here's just a clip of some giggles while I am playing hide and seek.

Rhode Island: June 2-20

We had a fabulous time in Rhode Island during the month of June. Both Jaedyn and Ashlyn did great on all of our flights and really adjusted well to all of the new faces and shlepping around during the visit. We spent much of the time visiting with our families and saw some of our close friends.

While we were in RI we were able to spend the day at the Mystic Aquarium. Jaedyn pretty much almost flew out of his socks when he saw the beluga whales. My favorite part was trying to find the frogs in the lily pads. There were tons of them if you just kept staring! (Wallison, I thought of you the whole time)

Fun times with friends. :)

Me and the Rog (aka Kelly).

Good times with the Sposatos and The Greenhalghs.

While roaming around Seaport Village in Mystic, CT we found a blue grass band that was fabulous! One of the musicians was nice enough to let Jaedyn play his cello. As you can see Jaedyn was pretty much flabbergasted.

Hanging out in Newport, RI with Nana!

Ashlyn finally meets Nana!

Jaedyn certainly had his share of birthday cakes while we were in RI. This was the first cake that he was surprised with.

As you can see I was definitely having more fun than Jaedyn.

Possibly one of the coolest playgrounds EVER! All recycled materials, wood and rubber...Jamestown, RI at the library.

We drove up to Salem, MA to visit with Auntie Lisa.

Jaedyn certainly couldn't go to RI without playing some sort of drumset. His drumming skills were back in action at Auntie Lisa's!

My mom and Dad seem to have some serious green thumbs. Their yard is always looking beautiful and the flowers are wonderful. I couldn't resist posting a few of my favorites.

Hanging out with Grampie and Ba Ba in Narragansett, RI.

We had a picnic at Grampie's house while we were there. Birthday cake #2 was introduced to Jaedyn. As you can see he was not excited at all about this one!

Fun times at the "BRILL INN"...(which is currently for sale...gulp)

Ashlyn enjoying her cheerios at Ga Ga's house.

Ashlyn got to meet her Great Nana Wade.

And her Great Grandma Brill

Jaedyn was working hard to sweep the "fuzzy things" off Ga Ga's deck. When we got back to San Diego Jaedyn went out on our patio and said "Oh! We don't have any fuzzy things, Mom. Just Ga Ga has the fuzzy things!".

One of Jaedyn's favorite things in life are fires. It was a bit too warm to start a fire at Ga Ga and Pop Pop's house so we decided to get creative. The funny part was it started out with lighting just one candle in the fireplace. My mom and I went out and left Jaedyn with Rob and Pop Pop and when we came home there was no longer just one candle....apparently Jaedyn went around collecting as many candles as he could find! As you can see from the picture...he did a very good job finding them! The lighting of the candles became a nightly occurrance.

A visit from my cousin Christina, her husband Chris and Xavier.

Jaedyn and Xavier share the same birthday, July 20 so we celebrated an early birthday with another Elmo cake! Make that #3 for Jaedyn!
