Last week of August

Jaedyn, Ashlyn and I were invited to the Del Mar Horse Races this past week by Allison's Dad. We sat in the luxury suite, ate delicious food and cheered on all of the horses!

We headed downtown about a week ago to do something different. It was a fun day walking around with Jaedyn looking at the sailboats, aircraft carriers, "ocean liners" (as Jaedyn calls them) and art work by local artists. We stayed for dinner and treated Jaedyn with an ice cream cone and a ride on the carousel. Not a bad life for a 3 year old I tell ya!

Someone offered to take our picture...apparently we had "tourists" stamped on our heads. Right after she took it she said to us...."now you have proof that you were here!".

Here's a teeny tiny clip from the carousel....I arrived a bit late, so when I showed up Jaedyn was extra excited to tell me that he was "RIDING THE CAROUSEL MAMA....!"

Another week's activities...

Jaedyn and I planted a tomato plant at the beginning of the summer. It has grown well on our nice, sunny patio and Jaedyn LOVES picking the tomatoes off every morning. Here's a sample of a perfect specimen!

Jaedyn and one of his best friends, Connor "selling lemonade" at the park.

Looking at the fish, ducks and turtles.

Wrestling 101 with Dad.

Jaedyn, rockin' out with his little red guitar.

Food ala face.

Another visit with Captain Greg!

We had our 2nd meeting with Uncle Greg at Polomar Airport. Jaedyn and Ashlyn and I LOVE seeing Uncle Greg on these special days (although I think we might skip the restaurant experience next time!) Jaedyn talks about how some day he's going to fly an airplane just like his uncle!

This week in sick-land

Well, it hasn't been such a fun couple of weeks here at the Crockett's Infirmary. Jaedyn and Ashlyn both came down with some kind of bizarre day and a half something or other. They both had fevers, were absolutely miserable and slept more than usual. Jaedyn recovered just fine, unfortunately Ashlyn started to recover and then got sick again. She currently has bronchitis which is torturous for us all...even Jaedyn keeps saying "is she ok?" when she has her coughing fits. Hopefully we'll be back to good health soon.

I also forgot to mention that Jaedyn had another visit with his cardiologist about 2 weeks ago. This was a super long appointment, 2 chest x-rays where Jaedyn is literally strapped to a table while we have to hold his arms over his head (definitely his least favorite of all of the tests), an EKG (where they stick about 30 circles all over his chest hooked up with wires) and an echo-cardiogram which takes 45 minutes. The good news is that despite the 3 hours that we spent at the doctors having all of these tests done Jaedyn was soooooooooo good. He cooperated for all of the tests and had such a good attitude the whole time. We met with his doctor at the end of the visit to go over the tests and once again the news was good. #1 no surgery at this point and #2 his heart looks better than the last appt! We were thrilled and can only thank God for his goodness!

A day at the Splash Park

Jaedyn, Ashlyn and I spend quite a bit of time at a park in nearby 4S Ranch. It's a great park in the summer because it has all of the park amenities with a bonus water sprinkling section!

Ashlyn hanging out with her little friends....Allison's little girl Lilly is in the middle (she was definitely the most adventurous...she enjoyed sitting right under the falling water) and Lilly's cousin Carson is on the left.

And she's off!!!!!!!

A little update on Ashlyn.....she is now crawling around investigating everything in the house. In the last 2 weeks she's gotten 3 new top teeth, she's learned how to crawl, pull herself up on just about anything, and open the cabinet doors!

The new elephant exhibit at the zoo!

Last Friday we drove down to the zoo for the day. I figured with school starting it wouldn't be too crowded, unfortunately I was wrong. Apparently everyone decided to get in a last minute trip to the zoo all on the same day. Despite the loads of people we had a great time. We pretty much visited the entire zoo although I only took a few pictures at the new elephant exhibit which is pretty cool.

Uncle Greg, I think you need to go back to the zoo just to visit the new gigantic sloth.

Ashlyn, who usually takes a 2nd nap around 2pm decided that she didn't want to sleep because the zoo was just too exciting. This was taken when we were leaving the zoo at 5:30 (after getting there at 1pm). Jaedyn on the other hand decided to catch a quick snooze on our way to the car and then slept the entire way home in the car. Ashlyn still didn't fall asleep in the car for the 40 minute drive, and decided it would be far more fun to make loud teradactyl noises at Jaedyn while he was sleeping.

Another Drum Circle!

The Sunday following Jaedyn's birthday bash our church had a musical beach event! Many people gathered while the worship leader David, lead us in worship. Everyone was told to bring a musical instrument of some sort which resulted in several creative instrument type devices. It was a fun night with singing, drumming, a big fire and some very delicious smores. It was kind of like Jaedyn's birthday party all over again but with hired helpers!

Jaedyn appears to be having a pretty deep discussion about something with this kid.

A Day in the life of the Crocketts....

Jaedyn insists on sleeping with his stuffed animals every night.

Ashlyn has figured out that Patches is Jaedyn's prized possession. Now that she is crawling she likes to torment Jaedyn and sneaks in some hugs while he's not looking.

Jaedyn loves walking down to the pond that we have in our complex. We often get to feed some pretty big fish, turtles and ducks. I can't remember what was so exciting here...but I liked the picture.

Jaedyn is getting really good at building things with his blocks. He constructed this all by himself which I thought was quite impressive.

Ashlyn was caught here preparing for her jog around the block. She figured a little stretching of her calves would help her to run faster.

Speaking of Patches.....as most of you know Jaedyn is absolutely addicted to this little dog, Patches. He sleeps with Patches every night and while we are at home hanging out Patches is pretty much glued to Jaedyn. The funny part is Jaedyn is obsessed with smelling Patches ears. As you can see Jaedyn is still getting some sniffs in as he balances Patches on Ashlyn's head.

Jaedyn loves taking baths with Ashlyn. Ashlyn however isn't so fond. Probably due to the fact that her big brother likes to "help out" by pouring water over her head.
